Handmade Bug House

£13.99 Sale price

Was £22.99

Bees, bugs, pollinating insects… gardeners have always treasured them, but there’s a new awareness as to their value to our natural environment.

Encourage those beneficial insects to set up home with these elegant hardwood sanctuaries. A bug house provides a great way to learn about the natural world or simply to enjoy the absorbing and sometimes curious behaviour of our six-legged friends. This makes them a great gift, particularly for anybody with children.

There’s a spot in every garden for a bug house, and often it’s a space that might normally be under-used. For the biggest variety of visitors, you’ll want to find a sheltered place. Damp but not wet, and ideally close to somewhere to which insects might naturally be drawn: a tree-trunk, your garden hedge or a pond.

Bees, however, need full sun and very dry conditions – and they love to be near aromatic flowers and a source of something to drink! Don’t make the mistake of siting your bug house on the ground – you’ll want it up and away from predators; at least a metre in the case of bees.

Individually hand-made, these are attractive items all round: good-looking to our human eyes whilst forming a very desirable residence for the discerning bug!  If you require more than we hold in stock, please contact us as we may have more on order.

Features:

- Dimensions 7x7x4 inches
- Individually handmade by craftspeople
- Solid hardwood timber brought in from sustainable forests
- Attractive hexagonal design
